Ultimate Garbage Bread
Ingredients:
1 pound ground beef (or turkey)
½ cup diced onion
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon pepper
11 ounces refrigerated bread dough (pizza dough works too)
⅓ cup ketchup
3 tablespoons mustard
6 slices cooked crumbled bacon (or turkey bacon)
2 dill pickle spears, chopped (or relish)
8 slices American cheese (or your favorite cheese)
Topping:
1 large egg, beaten
1 tablespoon sesame seeds
Serving Sauce:
Thousand Island dressing (or your favorite dipping sauce)
Directions:
1. Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or spray it with nonstick spray.
2. In a skillet, cook 1 pound of ground beef and ½ cup of diced onion over medium heat until the beef is browned. Season with ¼ teaspoon salt and ¼ teaspoon pepper. Drain any excess grease.
3. On a floured surface, roll out 11 ounces of dough into a large rectangle.
4. Spread ⅓ cup ketchup and 3 tablespoons mustard over the dough, leaving a ½ inch border.
5. Layer the cooked beef mixture, crumbled bacon, and chopped pickles on top. Add 8 slices of cheese in a single layer.
6. Roll up the dough from one long end to the other, sealing the edges tightly.
7. Place the rolled dough seamside down on the baking sheet.
8. Brush the top with the beaten egg and sprinkle with sesame seeds.
9. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown.
10. Let it cool for 5 minutes, then slice and serve with Thousand Island dressing or your goto dipping sauce.
Notes:
For a healthier option, swap ground beef for ground turkey.
