Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) lean ground beef (90% lean or higher)
  • 4 cups shredded cabbage (green or Napa cabbage)
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh ginger, minced
  • 2 tbsp low-sodium soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce (optional, for flavor)
  • 1 tsp sesame oil (use sparingly)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil or cooking spray
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Shred the cabbage, chop the onion, and mince the garlic and ginger.
  2. Cook the beef: Heat the olive oil or spray a skillet with cooking spray over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula. Drain excess fat if needed.
  3. Add aromatics: Add chopped onion, garlic, and ginger to the beef. Cook for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Add cabbage: Stir in the shredded cabbage and cook for another 3-5 minutes until the cabbage softens.
  5. Season: Add soy sauce, oyster sauce (if using), black pepper, and sesame oil. Mix well and cook for another 2 minutes to combine flavors.
  6. Serve: Garnish with chopped green onions and red pepper flakes if desired.

  • Use lean beef or ground turkey/chicken.
  • Keep the oil minimal—preferably spray or 1 tsp of sesame oil for flavor.
  • Opt for low-sodium soy sauce to control salt.
