This recipe captures that perfect “salty-sweet” balance seen in your photo. It uses a brown sugar-heavy dough for a chewy texture and includes a mix of crunchy pretzels, festive M&Ms, and creamy white chocolate.

Christmas Kitchen Sink Cookies

  • Prep time: 15 minutes

  • Bake time: 10–12 minutes

  • Yields: Approx. 20–24 cookies

Ingredients

The Dough Base:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) Unsalted butter, softened

  • ¾ cup Light brown sugar, packed

  • ¼ cup Granulated white sugar

  • 1 Large egg + 1 egg yolk (the extra yolk makes it chewier)

  • 2 tsp Vanilla extract

  • 2 ¼ cups All-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp Baking soda

  • ½ tsp Salt

The “Kitchen Sink” Mix-ins:

  • ½ cup Christmas M&Ms (Red & Green)

  • ½ cup Semi-sweet chocolate chips

  • ½ cup White chocolate chips

  • ½ cup Pretzels, roughly chopped/broken

  • 2 tbsp Holiday sprinkles (optional)

  • Flaky sea salt (for finishing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat & Prep: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.

  2. Cream Butter & Sugars: In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and white sugar together for about 2–3 minutes until the mixture is light and fluffy.

  3. Add Wet Ingredients: Mix in the egg, the extra egg yolk, and the vanilla extract. Scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is combined.

  4. Combine Dry Ingredients: In a separate small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add this to the wet ingredients, mixing on low speed until just combined (do not overmix).

  5. Fold in the Goods: Using a spatula, gently fold in the M&Ms, chocolate chips, white chips, pretzels, and sprinkles.

Pro Tip: Reserve a small handful of the mix-ins to press into the tops of the cookies before baking for that “bakery look.”

  6. Scoop & Bake: Scoop about 2 tablespoons of dough per cookie and place them 2 inches apart on the baking sheets. Press the reserved toppings onto the tops.

  7. Bake: Bake for 10–12 minutes. The edges should be golden brown, but the centers should still look slightly soft.

  8. Finish: Immediately upon removing from the oven, sprinkle with a pinch of flaky sea salt. Let them cool on the pan for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Variations to Try

  • The “Santa” Twist: Add ½ cup of crushed potato chips for even more saltiness.

  • Gooey Factor: Fold in ½ cup of mini marshmallows or chopped caramels.

  • Nutty: Add ½ cup of chopped pecans or walnuts for an earthy crunch.
