Christmas Trifle Dessert 



Ingredients:
For the Trifle:
1 large pound cake (store-bought or homemade), cubed
2 cups vanilla custard (store-bought or homemade)
1 1/2 cups whipped cream
1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
1 cup fresh raspberries
1/2 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup fresh blackberries
1/4 cup crushed candy canes (optional, for garnish)
For the Syrup (optional):
1/4 cup orange juice
2 tbsp sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
Directions:
Prepare the Syrup (Optional):
In a small saucepan over low heat, combine orange juice, sugar, and vanilla extract. Heat until the sugar dissolves, then set aside to cool.
Layer the Trifle:
In a trifle dish or large glass bowl, start with a layer of cubed pound cake. If using syrup, lightly brush or drizzle the cake cubes with the syrup.
Add a layer of vanilla custard, spreading evenly.
Top with a layer of mixed berries (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, and blackberries).
Add a layer of whipped cream.
Repeat the layers (cake, custard, berries, whipped cream) until the dish is full, finishing with a layer of whipped cream on top.
Garnish:
Decorate the top with additional berries and a sprinkle of crushed candy canes for a festive touch.
Chill and Serve:
Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld together. Serve chilled.
