Golden Apple Pie
Ingredients:
6 to 8 medium-sized apples, peeled, cored, and sliced
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon butter, cut into small pieces
1 package refrigerated pie crusts (or homemade pie crust)
1 egg, beaten (for egg wash)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, lemon juice, and flour. Toss until the apples are evenly coated.
Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie pan. Fill the crust with the apple mixture, then dot the top with small pieces of butter.
Cover the pie with the second crust, sealing the edges by crimping them together. Cut several slits in the top crust to allow steam to escape. Brush the top with the beaten egg for a golden finish.
Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Then, reduce the temperature to 350°F (175°C) and continue baking for an additional 35 to 45 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the crust is golden brown.
Once done, allow the pie to cool for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
