Homemade Wonton Soup Recipe
Ingredients:
Wontons:
1 pound ground chicken or shrimp
1/4 cup green onions, finely chopped
1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
1 teaspoon grated ginger
1 package wonton wrappers
Soup:
6 cups chicken broth
2 cups water
2 cups bok choy, chopped
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil
Salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground chicken or shrimp, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, garlic, and ginger. Mix until well blended.
To assemble the wontons, place a teaspoon of the filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Moisten the edges with water, fold the wrapper over to create a triangle, and press to seal. Then, bring the two corners of the triangle together and pinch to seal, forming a wonton. Repeat until all filling is used.
In a large pot, bring the chicken broth and water to a boil. Add the bok choy and mushrooms, cooking for about 3-4 minutes until tender.
Carefully add the wontons to the boiling soup and cook for about 5-7 minutes or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.
Stir in the soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper to taste.
Serve the wonton soup hot, garnished with additional green onions if desired.
