🥟 Homemade Wonton Soup with a Flavorful Twist

🛒 Ingredients

  • 25–30 wonton wrappers

  • 4 cups chicken or vegetable broth

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp rice vinegar

  • ½ tsp sugar or honey

  • ½ tsp chili oil (optional, for a twist 🌶️)

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

Flavorful Twist Add-ins:

  • ½ cup sliced mushrooms

  • ½ cup baby spinach or bok choy

  • 1–2 tbsp sweet corn or bamboo shoots

Garnish:

  • Chopped green onions

  • Fresh cilantro

  • Sesame seeds

  • Chili flakes (optional)

1️⃣ Make the Filling

In a bowl, mix chicken/shrimp, green onions, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, garlic, white pepper, and cornstarch until well combined.

2️⃣ Assemble Wontons

Place 1 tsp filling in the center of each wrapper.
Wet edges with water, fold into a triangle, press to seal, then bring corners together.

3️⃣ Prepare the Broth

In a pot, bring broth, ginger, garlic, soy sauce, vinegar, sugar, chili oil, and sesame oil to a gentle boil.

4️⃣ Cook the Wontons

Add wontons carefully. Cook for 3–4 minutes until they float.

5️⃣ Add Veggies

Add mushrooms, spinach, and corn. Simmer for 1–2 more minutes.

6️⃣ Serve

Ladle into bowls and garnish with green onions, cilantro, sesame seeds, and chili flakes.
