Ingredients:
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2-3 cups frozen hash browns (or 4-5 medium potatoes, peeled and sliced thin)
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup (or your choice of cream soup)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 1 cup mixed vegetables (like peas and carrots)
  • Instructions:
  • Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Brown the Beef: In a large skillet, cook the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is browned and the onion is soft. Drain excess fat.
  • Mix Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the cooked beef and onion with the cream of mushroom soup, milk, garlic powder, salt, pepper, and mixed vegetables (if using).
  • Layer the Casserole: In a greased 9×13-inch baking dish, spread half of the hash browns or sliced potatoes. Pour the beef mixture over the potatoes. Top with the remaining hash browns.
  • Add Cheese: Sprinkle the shredded cheese evenly over the top.
  • Bake: Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
  • Serve: Let it cool for a few minutes before serving. Enjoy your hearty casserole!
